Turning the Wheel of Dharma
WEEKLY STUDY AND PRACTICE  GROUP

We meet each week for meditation and study of various Buddhist subjects and this is open to both new and older students of Buddhism and also to non-Buddhists who would like to learn to apply the wisdom of this tradition in their daily lives.
We use transcripts of the teachings we have received during seminars along with video recordings as part of a course of study at our meetings, and there are often appropriate course books for home study.  Informal discussion at the group of the issues arising from this study and practice is often both rewarding and instructive and allows the group to benefit from sharing the experiences of others.

In October 2005 we began the new study course recommended by Ringu Tulku Rinpoche: Shantideva's classical text the Bodhicharyavatara or Guide to the Bodhisattva Way of Life, which offers essential guidance for all who aspire to the spiritual life. We are continuing this study course in 2007.  Running on alternate Thursdays, it carries a commitment to attend all the sessions and to buy the set textbook (available from BBG bookshop).

The regular programme continues:
First Thursdays: Chenrezig practice - meditation, chanting and mantra recitation to inspire the innate capacity for loving-compassion.
Third Thursdays: popular Basic Buddhism drop-in evenings, ideal for newcomers

PUBLIC TALKS

As part of our Seminar programme guest teachers are often invited to talk on a subject from a Buddhist perspective to a wider public audience.

PUJA

Chenrezig Puja
On the first Thursday of the month there will be a Chenrezig Puja: meditation, chanting and mantra recitation to evoke and make manifest the quality of universal loving-compassion.

SEMINARS AND DAY/WEEKEND WORKSHOPS

Our Seminars usually occur over a three-day period or full week and details are given in our programme of these special events.
We also have shorter study days and weekends to give the group an opportunity for more in-depth  practice.
