Thursday
evening format
Meetings are friendly and
informal and open to all who share a spirit of enquiry and an interest in Buddhist
studies and meditation. People are encouraged to arrive early to relax
with a cup of tea and take a look at the books and other items
in the Himalayan Imports shop, the lending library and the
information board displaying notices of ‘what’s on’ in the Buddhist world
locally and nationally. While there are no set
fees for BBG events, donations are requested to offset expenses.

Life.
Study
course of Shantideva’s classical text. This course is open to all:
experienced practitioners and newcomers alike, but requires a commitment to
regular attendance and homework. The text is challenging and demands a good
grounding in general Buddhist philosophy so newcomers should talk to Ian

Meditation
There
are many and varied Buddhist meditations and
techniques and these evenings are offered to explore these through
guided meditation and discussion about related issues such as: what is
meditation, what are the benefits, and how best do I fit meditation into a
busy life? Each month we
explore a meditation; from Mindfulness of breathing, through
Loving-kindness to Mahamudra and Dzogchen.
This course is designed to benefit beginners and experienced
meditators alike; we can always learn or share something new.
These
meditations are based on instructions from Alan Wallace's book Genuine Happiness which is available
from BBG at Bosham House or Wisdom Books |
