Bodhicharya Buddhist Group

Regular meetings are held at Bosham House on Thursday evenings from 7.30pm, with a varying content throughout the month.

Special events are arranged throughout the year on Thursday evenings and some weekends with guest speakers from all Buddhist traditions and workshops on special topics.

We are also privileged to host annual teachings by Ringu Tulku Rinpoche.

Thursday evening format

Meetings are friendly and informal and open to all who share a spirit of enquiry and an interest in Buddhist studies and meditation. People are encouraged to arrive early to relax with a cup of tea and take a look at the books and other items in the Himalayan Imports shop, the lending library and the information board displaying notices of ‘what’s on’ in the Buddhist world locally and nationally. While there are no set fees for BBG events, donations are requested to offset expenses.

1st Thursday	Chenrezig Puja Meditation, chanting and mantra recitation to inspire the innate capacity for loving-compassion
2nd Thursday	Bodhicharyavatara Guide to the Bodhisattva Way of Life. Study course of Shantideva’s classical text, open to all. Intermediate level: this text is challenging and demands a good grounding in general Buddhist philosophy. We invite newcomers to familiarise themselves with the text if possible beforehand (Bodhicharyavatara by Shantideva; available from Wisdom Books) textbook link
3rd & 5th Thursday	Meditation Meditation evening. Practice, instruction and discussion. This is a flexible session, maybe a guided meditation, maybe exploring a technique which may be new to some, or maybe just sitting quietly in supportive company. We aim to be a friendly and inclusive group, so the content is shaped around whoever comes along.
4th Thursday	Topic Evening This may be a visiting speaker or some topic for contemplation and discussion
