Ajahn Karuniko Refuge We request a donation of £10, which will go to support the monks at Chithurst Monastery How To Actually Meditate This is a recording of a teaching given by Ringu Tulku on the subject of "Emptiness" in 2003 in Hampshire, UK, and is in two parts. Approximately 120 mins, VHS PAL £8 It begins with an introduction to Meditation on Emptiness, a central Buddhist principle. Then, in response to a question on 'how should we actually meditate, avoiding drowsiness and excitement in our practice', Ringu Tulku responds with a wonderful teaching in his own inimitable style and speaking directly from his own experience. The teaching given at that time was so inspirational that we wished it to be available to anyone wanting to learn how to meditate, and have an opportunity to appreciate the wisdom presented in that spontaneous expression.
Calmness, Clarity and Insight - an Introduction to Buddhist Meditation The VHS videos of Alan Wallace's teaching is available as a boxed SET OF FIVE, each 120 MINUTES each in length. SPECIAL OFFER Was £75. Now £55 This course on 'how to meditate' is comprehensive, accessible, and inspiring. Of interest to anyone who has ever wondered about the way the mind works, or the nature of consciousness, it is suitable for complete newcomers and established meditators alike, whether Buddhist or not. The first session is complete in itself, introducing the topic and setting the historical context of the study of consciousness in East and West. The four subsequent sessions begin by taking up the question 'why meditate?' in an inspirational way which leads easily into the practical instructions of 'how to do it'. Alan takes his audience through the step by step process of calming and stabilising the mind based on 3 traditional methods of shamata 'calm abiding' meditation, culminating at the point at which the clarity established by the shamata meditation begins to allow the emergence of insight. Referring throughout to texts and oral instructions from Theravada, Mahayana, and Dzogchen, and drawing on his own extensive personal experience, Alan presents the material in a way that is both comprehensible and exciting. Students' questions and comments contribute an extra dimension of immediacy and practicality.
