PEACE VIGIL – SOUTHAMPTON
PRAYERS FOR PEACE which was held Sun 6th July 2008, 14:00-
Place)
The event
was very successful, despite the unsettled weather the turn-
We had several speakers offering poems, prayers and information
concerning the situation in Tibet.
Claire introduced the event, Mick Garrett spoke about the situation in Tibet and
read the words by HHDL, 'One Family', David spoke about the Tibetan Society, and
Ilse read a piece from Shantideva, which was lovely. Ian recited 'words of Truth'
-
It would appear the situation in Tibet has dropped out of the news, not because anything
has been resolved, or that the Chinese government has finally responded positively
to the peaceful and constructive advances being proposed by the Dalai Lama; but because
there is still no news coming out of Tibet; due to all foreign journalists having
been banned. Let’s hope our presence has made a small impression. The event was advertised
in the local press and we hope they will publish some pictures and a small article
of the event -
Also wanted to thank everyone who attended and helped make the day a successful one, special thanks also to Rinpoche, Mick, Ian, Ilse, Jules, David, Margaret & Jude. Many thanks for your help and support!!!
much love Claire x
